2009 IN PICS

Hi there.  This family pic was taken when Nafisah came back
from UK  for a few weeks to help look after her grandmother
who was seriously ill in hospital.  Sadly she died on June 24th
We all miss her dreadfully.  Here is a pic of her with us -
the last pic that was taken

Later in August - September Markiza, Rashid and Peter all
flew off to London (on different planes on different schedules)
mainly to celebrate Theo's wedding to Lauren (Lo)
Here is a pic on the steps of the Registry office

left to right: Theo (in full dress Scottish gear), Peter, Lo,
Nafisah, Maggie (Theo's mum) and Markiza

left to right: Rashid, Theo, Alex (N & R's cousin), Nafisah,
Stephen (N & R's uncle), Peter

Before that Peter travelled to UK early and went for country
expeditions with Nafisah.  This trip was into some woodlands
nearby to Wycombe where Nafisah lives.  Here she is
with a horse we met on the way

Gothic woodland trail

We also visited Cliveden, the home of the Astors
A huge stately mansion set in some beautiful grounds

containing sumptious flowerbeds, striking statues

and  fascinating topiary

a close-up during the trip

Another close-up in Richmond Park

where we went with Phil and Renne, very old friends
who live in different flats in the same house in Kilburn,
North West London

Here is a splendid view of Richmond Park

On the edge of the Park is this elegant cafe where you can
gorge yourself on cream teas (as we are doing in the pic)

Rashid arrived a little later and Nafisah and he went exploring
in Scotland.  They reached the highlands and this wonderful
Park called inverewe Garden where
tropical plants grow
because the park is sheltered from frost.
It was founded by Peter's ancestor, Osgood Mackenzie

Beautiful lilies

But chilly and damp up North, with not much sun

Here they are keeping warm in their hoods

Meanwhile Markiza and Peter explored London parks like
Regent's Park

And we also (inevitably) played music, this time at
The Perseverance Pub in Marylebone

Amongst the regulars at this pub was Peter's oldest friend,
Dave Russell who at 69 is more charismatic then ever

By the time Peter was back in Malaysia, Nafisah, Rashid and
Markiza were enjoying - well, revelling - at the Notting Hill
Carnival (pics by Rashid)

It was a fun day!

Back from UK Rashid joined a band called Kyoto Protocol
Here they are playing in a suburb of Kuala Lumpur
(link to You Tube).  Later in November 2009 KP were
runners up in the Malaysian leg of the
Global Battle of the Bands 2009

A shot of him hard at work (or rather play)

Theo's band Pocus White Face broke up shortly before he
got married.  Here's a shot of them playing in North London.
No prizes for guessing the name of the venue

Between 2008 and June 2009 Nafisah attended University of
London Institute of Education for a 1 year post-graduate
teaching course.  She graduated in March 2010.
Here she is with Maggie, Theo's mum who stepped in to
be there at the ceremony as Markiza and Peter couldn't make it

Theo also came along to support her.  Thanks Theo
Nafisah is now doing a PhD at the Institute
